About Rooting for a Greener Tomorrow
GREENMAN PROF. DALJEET KUMAR, a History Professor at Desh Bandhu Gupta Government College, Panipat, represents a rare blend of academic excellence, moral courage, and lifelong service to nature. What began as a personal sense of responsibility has today emerged as one of the most disciplined, self-funded, and people-driven environmental movements at the grassroots level. GREENMAN PROF. DALJEET KUMAR is the visionary force behind impactful campaigns such as “Thank You Not Required, Plant a Tree,” “One Tree in Your Name and One in Your Parents’ Name,” “Har Ghar Herbal Garden,” “One Tree in the Name of Mother,” “One Tree in the Name of Daughter,” “One Tree in the Name of Elders,” “Green Panipat – Green Haryana – Green Bharat,” and the widely respected “Herbal Plant Langar.” Through these initiatives, thousands of trees have been planted, herbal gardens have been developed in schools and colleges, and medicinal plants have reached households across communities. What elevates his work from activism to legacy is personal sacrifice. While serving full-time in government service, GREENMAN PROF. DALJEET KUMAR consistently dedicates nearly 15%–20% of his personal income exclusively to environmental causes. This self-funded commitment ensures transparency, independence, and continuity—free from temporary funding or symbolic gestures. His tireless contribution has earned him multiple international, national, state, and district level awards. On 26 January 2025, he was honoured by the Hon’ble Governor of Haryana, Shri Bandaru Dattatraya, a recognition that reflects the credibility, scale, and integrity of his environmental leadership. Today, GREENMAN PROF. DALJEET KUMAR stands not merely as an environmentalist, but as a national symbol of disciplined action—proving that one committed individual can inspire institutions, mobilize youth, and shape a greener future for India.
